Assignment 4: Printing my Hollow Form

Assignment 4: Printing my Hollow Form

This object's function is mostly ornamental. A crisscross design meant to convey the idea of DNA. The possibilities for it's use is up to it's user. It could work as a lamp shade or a flower vase.

The object is self supporting with possible support beams needed. Because of the double helix structure, x beams intersect from the base, which generally makes it a stable structure. It is a closed poly surface and I believe it is ready to print.

The only concern of mine is the base of the structure because they print as 4 different contact points that conjoin at the second crossover.

Low bed adhesion would be the main issue. However if I print with support beams, there will be less risk of print error. In that case the hollow would be a successful print.

This design was top rated amongst my peers. The review was generally that it was alot more different than my other blocky designs. Furthermore that it seemed like the most developed.

Here's me adjusting print settings. I turned off the spiral input option and got an auto generated infill.

I would like to print it as a non-spiral tooth path, double perimeter with both top and bottom layers solid.
